Make sure that you choose a model compatible with 3DS firmware V1.1.0-1E, V2.0.0-2E, V2.1.0-3E and DSi XL firmware 1.4.1 & 1.4.2. Unlike its predecessor, R4i SDHC 3DS (red) does not become obsolete upon the firmware releases of V1.1.0-1 for the 3DS and 1.4.2 for the DSi / DSi XL. With a kernel / firmware update on the R4i SDHC 3DS card, it will run smoothly on 3DS with the firmware V1.1.0-1E and DSi / DSi XL with firmware 1.4.2E. It is quite a big step forward for R4 3DS.
