iEDGE Firmware Fix For DSi Firmware 1.4.1
This guide is based on windows PC, NOT MAC. Important: if you want to update you i on your DSi console, please make sure that your DSi console is having a firmware version lower than 1.4.1. If your DSi has been updated to version 1.4.1, you will need to use a DS Lite console to update your iEDGE. Please take note, the firmware is different from the driver. To Check Your DSi Firmware Version:
- Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main menu
- Check the right hand corner of the top screen which says VER 1.x
Before flashing the iEDGE, check the following:
- If you can see the following after you insert the iEDGE into the slot-1 of the DSi, that means the iEDGE has not been flashed yet. You need to start the setup from Step 1.

- If you can see the following icon instead of the BLACK EDGE icon, good news for you. Your iEDGE has been flashed with the 1.4.1 firmware fix. Please proceed to step 11 to setup the OS.

- If you can’t see either of the above two, you will need a DS or DS Lite to flash the iEDGE.
Firmware Flashing Guide:
- Get the bootstrap update application iEDGE Bootstrap Updater V-3[Embed].exe ready. Make sure that the application is on your PC instead of the microSD. The easiest way is to place the file on your desktop.
- Unzip the file downloaded (using Winrar) on your PC
- Winrar can be downloaded from www.download.com by searching for Winrar at the Search.
- Unzip the files mentioned under the Software Preparation above, you will get:iEDGE Bootstrap Updater V-3[Embed].exe
- Run the iEDGE Bootstrap Updater V-3[Embed].exe bootstrap update file and you can see the following window with the title iEDGE Boot Update. The application automatically identify your microSD memory card. In this example, it is at drive J:

- Click Update to continue the flashing.

- Reinsert the micro SDHC card into the computer. Under the root folder of the microSD, there is a new file generated from the flashing process mentioned above. A new filebupdate BIN file has been written to microSD root folder.
If you can’t see the BIN file, it is because the file is hidden. You need to enable the Visibility of the Hidden Files. For guides on how to activate the Visibility of the Hidden Files, please click here .Important: bupdate BIN file is required for updating the iEDGE cart on the DS in the next step.
- If you can't see the “bupdate BIN” file after enabling the Visibility of the Hidden Files, please restart from step 1.
- Plug in the wall power adapter for your DSi. This is vital as flashing can't be interrupted. Do not turn on the DSi yet.
- Plug in the microSD to the iEDGE and then the iEDGE into the slot-1 of the DSi.
- Turn on the DSi.
- Do not press any button of the DSi.
- Leave the DSi on a table or flat surface.
- Bootstrap update flashing should start almost immediately.
This is the most crucial part of the bootstrap flashing.
Look at the iEDGE in the slot-1. The LED light inside the iEDGE should be visible as below (orange).
If the bootstrap flashing functions correct, the LED light should flash on and off.If the LED light is constantly on, that means that flashing does not function correct. Please restart the process from step 1.

The flashing will intensify slowly and the LED light will be off when the flashing is completed.
- Plug in the iEDGE to the DSi and check if you can see the following icon on the DSi menu. If you can, congratulation! You have successfully flashed the iEDEG, the most difficult part of the whole process.
