Hardware

1 x DSi / DSi XL with firmware lower than 1.4.3 or 1 x DS Lite

1x R4i Gold 3DS

1 x Micro SD card

To Check Your DSi Firmware Version:

• Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main menu
• Check the right hand corner of the top screen which says VER 1.x

Installation

1. Plug your DS console to the wall to make sure that the DS console power supply will not be interrupted during the firmware upgrade process.
    
2. Download the official driver (R4i-3DS V1.53b English )and firmware (fwup143b).
    
3. Unzip the files downloaded (using Winrar) on your PC.
   1. Winrar can be downloaded from www.download.com by searching for Winrar at the Search.
   2. Unzip the files mentioned under the Software Preparation above, you will get:
      

      R4i-3DS V1.53b English	fwup143b
      homebrew R4iMenu moonshl2 moonmemo r4.DAT	fwup143b.nds readme.txt

4. Now copy the all the above eight files to the root folder of the Micro SD /SDHC memory card.
    
5. Insert MicroSD card into R4i Gold 3DS card, insert R4i Gold 3DS card into DS Lite / DSi /DSi XL.
    
6. Turn on console and press "A" button to run the upgrade file fwup143b.nds.
   
7. Then you will get the following screen, please press A to start upgate.

   

8. The r4i gold 3ds card is upgrading right now. Please leave the console alone in a flat place until the upgrade is done
   Note:When upgrading the r4i-gold 3DS card, it is not allowed to turn off power or pull out r4i- gold 3DS card,otherwise it will damage the r4i-gold 3DS card.
   
9. The following screen shows that the update has been completed. Congratulation! Restart your DS now.  
   
10. The icon on the main menu has been changed to the following icon. The icon means you have upgraded the R4i Gold 3DS Firmware successfully.
